Help make Eid special
Struggling with loneliness is most acute for new Muslims during seasonal celebrations like Eid and Christmas. We organise Eid events which bring together communities of converts.

After they experience the community spirit of Ramadan, new commers find themselves suddenly isolated as everyone celebrates Eid with their families.
And while we all know where to pray, what to wear, eat and how to enjoy ourselves during Eid, these things are a mystery for new Muslims with no cultural frame of reference.
Christmas is equally challenging. New Muslims struggle to navigate this time of year with family, children and friends.
Your donations could help us make every new Muslim feel welcome and ensure no one is left behind. It could help us tackle isolation and facilitate inclusive functions during Eid for convert Muslims, representative of the rich and beautiful cultural heritage that enlivens our special days.
We are also working to organise alternative events during Christmas, to help new Muslims find meaningful ways of navigating this time of year and their relationships with friends and family who celebrate.
‘Cambridge Crescent's work is a testament to the beauty of the Muslim community Particularly I want to highlight the community's support of those who are closely connected to new Muslims. This is a double blessing, as it acknowledges the unique journeys loved ones embark on in supporting new Muslims, and simultaneously celebrates new Muslims joining up to the wider community, limiting the isolation that can often be felt.’ – Hannah
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity given to a poor person is charity, and when it is given to a relative it serves a double purpose being both charity and a bond of relationship.” - Ahmad & Tirmidhi
The services we provide for new Muslims are Zakat compliant. As Allah guides us to whom to give, as illustrated in the verse below, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was also known to give and reconcile hearts.
'The charitable offerings are only for the poor, and the destitute and those who collect (the zakat) and those whose hearts are (to be) reconciled and for (ransoming) slaves and debtors and in God’s path, and the wayfarer, as an obligation from God and God is Knowing , Wise.’ — Holy Qur’an 9: 60
